How RUDX works

RUDX is the radio, cockpit and clubhouse for crews who drive together – on the pass road and off it. Here is everything you need for your first ride. On the road the rule is: tap as little as possible, RUDX announces the rest.

Ready in 5 minutes

  1. Install the app and sign in with Apple. No password, no phone number.
  2. Profile and garage: name, photo and your car. In the convoy the others see your car and hear your name when you talk.
  3. Add an emergency contact (Profile → Emergency). It is only shown in an emergency and only after confirmation.
  4. Create or join a group: Groups → “Create”, or join with your club’s invitation code.
  5. Allow permissions: location (only during the ride), microphone (radio), Bluetooth and local network (radio without cell signal), motion (crash detection).

Planning a ride

Organisers plan a ride right in the group:

Every member sees the ride right away, joins and can subscribe to the calendar (Profile → Settings → Calendar). The calendar link only opens the ride for members of the group.

On the day of the ride

  1. Tap “Start – I’m heading out” as soon as you leave. The map shows who is already on the way and who is waiting at the meeting point.
  2. At the meeting point the tour leader taps “Start tour” – everyone is in the convoy.
  3. From now on RUDX shows every car live, the gap to the car ahead in seconds and the next stop.

Running late, or had to restart the app? Just tap “Join convoy” – even when the convoy is already on the move.

On the road

What How
Talk Hold the big HOLD button, speak, release. The tour leader has priority. Missed something? Radio keeps the last 30 minutes.
Report a hazard Hazard → choose the type (rockfall, wildlife, police, oil …). The cars behind you hear it at exactly that spot.
Request to the tour leader Request → for example “Break / toilet”, “Fuel”, “Slower”. Breakdown, help and fuel always go to everyone.
Place a note (tour leader) Note → template or your own text/voice note at your position.
Next stop (tour leader) Note → “Next stop · to everyone” → next safe stop, next exit or car park or rest area. Everyone hears the announcement; the banner stays until the whole convoy has stopped. Never “stop now” – nobody pulls onto the hard shoulder.
All OK? (tour leader) Long-press the view button → “Check-in: all OK?”. Everyone confirms with one tap, you see “5 of 5 confirmed”.
Focus view View button: only the talk button, SOS and a big map.

The convoy guard

The tour leader is alerted when a car falls behind, stands still while the others drive, or stops sending a signal. Straight from the alert they can call the car privately, show it on the map or call a next stop. When everyone is back together, RUDX announces it.

Without cell signal

Without signal, the iPhones in the convoy connect directly to each other (mesh) and pass radio, positions, hazards and SOS from car to car. You don’t have to do anything – RUDX switches by itself. The tour’s offline map keeps showing you the way.

In an emergency

After the ride: your recap

With “End tour” RUDX saves your recap (Tours → My tours): map of your track, driving time, average, climb, curves and the sections between the stops. Only you see your top speed.

Heart rate (optional): under Settings → Heart rate choose Apple Watch or a Bluetooth heart-rate strap. The recap shows your heart rate per section and in which curves it peaked. The values stay on your iPhone – sharing only happens when you tap “Share heart rate with the group”.

Apple Watch

The RUDX app on the watch starts automatically with “Start – I’m heading out” and records your heart rate. You don’t need to operate it: it vibrates when it matters – next stop, SOS, crash countdown, hazard ahead, convoy guard, “All OK?”, private call and tunnel.
